A new spin on Americana & Appalachian sounds at the Roadhouse

This Friday Offbeat Roadhouse welcomes, The Corrie Lynn Green Collective. This free event is open to all at 2244 Ivy Rd. You can also listen on 91.1 FM, stream via wtju.net, video stream on WTJU’s YouTube channel, or listen via the WTJU mobile app.

Corrie Lynn Green is an Appalachian folk singer-songwriter from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, currently creating a unique spin on the Americana and Appalachian genres. Her music reflects the stories of life in a small mountain town, drawing from her deep roots in rural Appalachia. She and the band are currently touring behind her latest release, Day 4 of Living on the Edge, out now on Outer Marker Records.

A testimony to a stolen name, a ruined childhood, and a forbidden voice

Producer Daniel Rosenberg will stop by WTJU Friday to chat with World Turning host John Bates about Songs of Stolen Children, a 2026 release from Daughters of Donbas, an all-female + non-binary ensemble featuring Ukrainian singer Marichka — activist, war journalist, volunteer combat medic, and winner of the Amnesty International Award.

The musical project is dedicated to spotlighting real stories of the thousands of Ukrainian children abducted from occupied regions and taken to Russia. Combining indie pop, neo-classical, and Ukrainian folk polyphony, the program turns original compositions and ancient songs into musical artivism.

Send a testimonial & join us for a Chuck Taylor celebration

Saturday, Nov 14 | 6:30 - 9 p.m. | IX Looking Glass

Join friends, neighbors, music lovers, WTJU DJs, and loved ones to celebrate the life of Chuck Taylor, former General Manager of WTJU. He passed away late this summer after a long illness.

From 8 – 9 PM, the celebration will include a live broadcast on WTJU 91.1 FM to honor Chuck’s life and legacy. Also streaming at WTJU.net and with video via Zoom.

We’re collecting audio testimonials to air during this broadcast and we’d love you to lend your voice in one of three ways:

Early decision applications for WTJU summer interns due Dec 1

Each summer WTJU hires full time paid student interns to produce radio/podcast segments, tell interesting stories through our archives, run tech for live music performances, gain experience in professional media and communications, and lead our summer youth radio camps.

This year, there will be a two-phase application cycle: Early Decision, due December 1, and Regular Decision, opening and due in the spring.

All are welcome to apply and interviews with select candidates will take place in early December. Early Decision applicants who are not selected are encouraged to reapply in the spring.
