In their 100th birthday year, we’re bringing curiosity and celebration as we dive deep into the legacies of Miles Davis and John Coltrane. We’re also honoring the life of Professor Bebop, who shared his passion, brilliance, and inimitable style on WTJU’s airwaves for half a century.

The 2026 marathon will feature SEVEN local jazz and blues performances at the Stage, beginning at 8 p.m. each evening – John D’earth & Will Evans, Paulien, Corey Harris, Jeff Massanari, Greg Weaver’s Limit Break 4, Sharel Cassity, and Ryan Snow’s Electric Band!

At home with the Chamber Music Festival

This coming Sunday WTJU will be airing a live broadcast of the Chamber Music Festival during Sunday Opera Matinee. Listen on 91.1 FM, stream via wtju.net, or listen via the WTJU mobile app. 

Series Concert II: Beethoven's 5th-Up Close will be broadcast live from Old Cabell Hall at UVA. Performances will include Mieczysław Weinberg: String Trio, Op. 48; Samuel Barber: Cello Sonata in C minor, Op. 6; Ludwig van Beethoven (arr. Ebers): Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67 arr. for string quintet.​

Due to a member of Las Guayaberas falling ill, the previously scheduled Offbeat Roadhouse has been postponed. We hope to announce a new date soon. We will instead air a 2019 encore featuring Chapman Stick master Greg Howard and renowned singer/songwriter Peyton Tochterman. September's Third Rail is Model House

WTJU Rock's Third Rail presents neo-folk sensation, Model House. This free event is open to all at 2244 Ivy Rd. You can also listen on 91.1 FM, stream via wtju.net, video stream on WTJU’s YouTube channel, or listen via the WTJU mobile app.

Featuring seven singer songwriters, reformed punks, and petty thieves, Model House has amassed a formidable catalog in a relatively short span together. Their music explores many different facets of folk, featuring twists of soul, Americana, and gospel influence, with a dash of unnerving theatrical flair. Model House creates power and depth within each song; it’s Baroque Folk for broke folks.
